Part 10: Moving on

She followed him out of the cantina slowly watching where he went. She ran behind him wanting to explain everything to him and for him to acknowledge that she was back.

He sat alone on the ravine; she sat next to him and put her hand on his shoulder. He shrugged it back from her. She took this as a sign that he didn’t want her there. She sat behind him and stared out at the sands, which she had missed so much. She took her hand and ran sand between her fingers. Finally he broke the silence.

“Did he hurt you?” he said harshly but with a hint of sympathy.

“No…I’m fine.” She smiled back at him trying to meet his eyes. His hard cold stare penetrated through her as she sat there.

“Good.” He continued to go on completely avoiding her absence for the past few months.

“You need to know that we are moving as a city again. This time we will be going to Danttooine. You will love it, it reminds me of your summer home outside Kaadara.”

She nodded and smiled trying to lighten the mood, “No Tuscans…that’s a huge improvement.”

He smirked at her and continued to look out into the ravine, “ I will help you move your things like I did last time, but purely because I know you need the help. This is not a favor, this is not about us, and it’s about Wild Sands.”

He made it sound like a business proposition. She understood why he was doing this. She knew he loved her, and even after all they had been through, he didn’t want to leave her behind in the middle of Mushroom Mesa by herself simply because she couldn’t move all of her things.

“Thank you Narek. I appreciate the offer to help me.” She said as she played nervously with the hem of her skirt. She stood up and wiped the sand from her lace skirt. He grabbed her hand quickly as she rose.

“I’m glad you are back and safe.” He muttered under his breath.

His hand on hers made warmth flow through her entire body. Lula walked back to her house, strange as it felt, the layout was similar to the house she was held captive in. She decided to sell it and buy a new one when she got to Danttooine.

Alone on her bed she sat staring at the blaze. She would now embark to a new place, a new chapter of her life. She would follow the only family she knew to a planet she had never been to with people she trusted.
